Steve Wagstaffe is the elected San Mateo County District Attorney and lifelong resident of San Mateo County. In 1981, Steve was promoted to Assistant District Attorney and over the next ten years managed the felony and misdemeanor divisions of the office. In 1991, he was appointed Chief Deputy District Attorney and served in this role for 19 years. In 2010, he was elected San Mateo County District Attorney and took office in January, 2011. He was re-elected for a second term as San Mateo County’s District Attorney, which began in January 2015. During his time in the DA's office, he has prosecuted 35 murder trials and five death penalty cases, including all prosecutions of police officer murder cases in the last thirty years.
Steve served as President of the 100 Club in 2014.
