100 CLUB FOUNDER & LIFETIME MEMBER REMEMBERED
Frank Leo Hannig
Frank Leo Hannig, born January 23, 1921, passed away surrounded by his beloved family, on December 2, 2018 at the age of 97 years.
Frank was one of the original founders of the 100 Club of San Mateo County in 1972 and served on its Board of Directors for many years. He maintained a lifetime membership in the organization.
Frank will be remembered as a father, lawyer, and prominent citizen that served
his community in so many ways. Prior to begin practicing law in Redwood City in
1949, he was one of the first graduates of the Stanford Law School after World War II.
During the war he was a Naval aviator who served in campaigns in the China Seas, the Philippine Islands and Okinawa. He participated in more than 40 missions, primarily for low-level night bombing, night patrols and rescue. Some of the decorations he was awarded included the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with Four Gold Stars, Navy Unit Citation, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Victory Medal, and the World War II and the Philippine Liberation Medal with One Bronze Star.
For over 50 years Frank served as a volunteer to numerous organizations.
He will be remembered for his commitment and service to the 100 Club of San Mateo County.
